Learning to operate the crane, proper use of load charts, and understanding of rigging required in crane operations. NCCER Crane Certification (5 days)
Learn how to fiber splice, make up termination trays, test connections, trouble shoot problems and repair problems. (4 days)
Great course, like crane but not as many load charts. Students will learn digger derrick setup, operation, and load charts. (4 days)
This is a preparation course for the Part 107 Drone License. The course covers a broad range of topics that are necessary to pass the FAAs written exam as well as provide a base of knowledge critical for utility inspections. (5 days)
The focus of basic electricity is to help the student understand how electricity is produced, manipulated, and used in an electrical system. AC and DC circuit work will be performed using Ohm’s laws. The main objective of the circuit work is to prepare the student for similar circuit work that will be encountered in future electricity courses. Success in this class will usually indicate that a student will find few problems with the academic portion of an apprenticeship program. (3 days)
The rigging class will cover ropes, knots, splices, slings, and chains that are commonly used in rigging operations. Students will learn to calculate tensions and safe working loads for various rigging applications they may encounter within the industry. Additionally, the course will provide an understanding of load charts as they apply to digger derricks and bucket trucks commonly used within the electrical utility industry. (3 days)
Many linemen work with transformers more often than any other piece of pole line equipment because every customer needs a transformer to receive service voltage. Thus, this course will explain the importance of transformers within the electrical system. Students will learn the theory of how transformers work, their anatomy, and how to connect, parallel, and bank them to supply the desired voltage. (3 days)
EPZ and Bracket grounding differences, how grounding protects us, proper size, and how to install grounds (3 days)
This class discusses the power system from generation to distribution. We cover the parts of the system, how to identify different components and the hazards involved with working on and around high voltage. The purpose of this class is to help non-electrical workers (salesmen, contractors) to be able to understand and be familiar with the system and how it relates to the services they are offering. It would also be useful in training first-year apprentices. (2 days)
In depth course about the distribution system, transformers, poles, guying, etc. and how it all works together to form the system. (1 day)
Discuss substation safety, components, and function. Teaches students how to safely move around in a substation and how to recognize hazards. (3 days)
Discuss all the components that make up an underground system. Designed to teach students how to do a visual inspection, know the hazards, and what to look for. (1 day)
A valuable course for the telecom industry. Course can be customized for any communication company. Students will learn OSHA and NESC regulations regarding pole space and who can work in those areas. Teaching new climbers proper climbing techniques, (2 weeks to be proficient)
How to work safely within the MAD using cover up, gloves and sticks. (4 days)
Our Timpson unit provides the environment to create scenarios and tasks for linemen to complete based on their skills and experience. Difficulty level of the scenarios are tailored to the students experience level. (4 days)
Our Timpson unit on-site provides the opportunity for many different high voltage training courses. (varies)
Facilitating the training development, implementation, or audit of a company's apprenticeship program. (varies)
Underground Distribution Labs involving making up transformer- primary elbows and secondary connections / switching / making primary splices (3 days)
Can be customized to meet any utility’s needs. Our Timpson unit gives the opportunity for experienced linemen to work scenarios they may not be familiar with. Scenarios can be based on training requested, or we can present difficult situations we are familiar with. (4 days)
Students will be qualified to work out of a bucket truck. This course covers setup, operation, and bucket rescue. (1 day)
