Drone Pilot Program

Utilities throughout the country are adopting sUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft System) technology and drone operators play a critical role. From storm damage assessment to the routine grid and right-of-way inspections, drones are becoming a standard tool in the electrical utility and communications industries.

sUAS DRONE PILOT TRAINING

This course has been specifically designed for the utility industry and will prepare the student for the FAA Part 107B* test, which licenses them to pilot small unmanned aircraft systems commercially. Students will gain experience in regulations, standards, proper and safe operation of the aircraft, and best practices. The course also covers utility-specific operations from inspection methodologies to wire environment risk mitigation.

Having a Remote Pilot Certificate, also called a ʻPart 107ʼ, is incredibly valuable for linemen looking to be hired.
